Saint Augustine’s University is at risk of losing its accreditation. The institution must position itself to not only survive its current threats, but build a foundation to thrive in the future.
Accountability for SAU’s current crisis begins at the top. Despite conclusions by the SACSCOC Special Committee, auditors, and others that “the board is not able to demonstrate appropriate fiduciary oversight of the University”, board members refuse to step down to save the institution. There is a deep level of distrust in the board of trustees as evidenced by votes of no confidence by both the SAU Faculty Assembly and the National Alumni Association, but the board refuses to step down to save the institution. This distrust in the board of trustees has led to suppressed donations to the University, but the board refuses to step down to save the institution. There is a petition with approximately 1,900 signatures demanding the immediate resignation of the board, but the board refuses to step down to save the institution.
Enough is enough. SAU must survive. We are left with no choice in order to save this beloved institution other than to file a lawsuit to remove the board.
Lawsuit has Commenced. The SaveSAU Coalition, Inc. has retained Brooks Pierce law firm to represent us and others in an imminent lawsuit. If you are committed to saving Saint Augustine’s University, please donate to the SaveSAU Legal Fund today. No amount is too small.
